About FingerLakes Farms

Distributing Natural. Local. Sustainable. Food

It’s encouraging to see the growing desire for locally sourced, natural foods. Like you, we believe in supporting our community and choosing quality. However, we also understand that navigating the world of ‘local’ can be complex. Just because something is labeled ‘natural’ or sold at a farmer’s market doesn’t automatically guarantee its quality or accessibility.

We’ve been there so we recognize the challenges you face in making informed choices. It can be difficult to find transparent information, especially when supporting smaller, local farms. These dedicated producers often lack the time and resources to maintain extensive online presences or manage lengthy market schedules.

That’s why we created FingerLakes Farms. We’re passionate about bridging the gap between conscientious farmers and discerning consumers like you. We carefully vet our partners, ensuring they prioritize quality, sustainability, and ethical practices. We believe in providing you with access to exceptional products while supporting the hardworking individuals who bring them to your table.

We’re committed to simplifying the process, so you can confidently trust the food you’re purchasing. At FingerLakes Farms, we believe in fostering a direct connection, built on transparency and shared values. Trust our process and experience the difference in your food.

Certified Organic or Natural?

Often, the tag “Certified Organic” can fool consumers into believing that the food was produced in the most environmentally friendly way possible. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Organic does not mean pastured, nor does it mean local.

Really, “certified organic” refers to the specific technicalities of the feed and fertilizers than it does with the entire process. Here at FingerLakes Farms that’s not good enough for us to ensure the food is up to snuff.

Natural food is derived from a pastured animal raised without the use of antibiotics or hormones.

We believe that, to ensure food is up to our lofty standards, we must focus on the entire process: the farm, the farmer, the feed, the distribution, and the sale, before we give it the big thumbs up

Why does good food cost so dang much?

The truth is, making the shift to sustainable practices is still a bit of a financial leap for everyone involved. It’s not quite the norm yet, and that means there are added costs.

Here at FingerLakes Farms, we’re trying to do things differently. We work directly with local farmers, taking some of the burden off their plates. Farming is a 24/7 job, and they shouldn’t have to worry about selling on top of everything else. We handle that part, so they can focus on growing the best possible products.

We also believe in paying our farmers and purveyors fairly, to make sure they can not only survive, but thrive. Allowing them to focus on producing and maintaining the high-quality products we all enjoy. And of course, we’ve got to get those amazing products to you!

All of this—supporting our farmers, ensuring top quality, and handling distribution—means products might cost a bit more than what you’d find from large-scale operations. But here’s the thing: we’re building a new model. We believe that local, sustainable food shouldn’t be a luxury. We want to make it the standard—easy to buy, safe to eat, and eventually, more affordable for everyone. It’s a journey, but we’re committed to making it happen.
